Southeast Asian Countries Raise Renewable Targets, PV & Storage Demand Keeps Growing

Several Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam, the Philippines and Malaysia, have recently released new renewable capacity plans that define development targets and supportive policies for solar PV and storage projects, keeping the overseas new-energy market on a steady growth trajectory.

In terms of project structure, ground-mounted centralized PV plants remain the region's main source of growth, while the number of C&I rooftop solar + storage projects is rising noticeably, driven by growing demand for self-consumption, peak-valley management and backup power.

At the same time, off-grid and weak-grid regions are paying increasing attention to hybrid microgrid solutions combining PV, storage and backup diesel generation, with mining sites, islands and remote villages emerging as concentrated areas for potential projects.

We will continue tracking national capacity plans, tendering rhythms and grid-access requirements, and share equipment selection and grid-code changes in a timely manner to help clients seize project windows and optimize investment decisions.
